The Estimator plays a pivotal role in coordinating projects from receipt of purchase order to successful delivery to the customer. You will also coordinate the bidding quotation process for customer requests and projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness while aligning with sales and profitability objectives. Requirements

  • 2+ years in the electrical industry preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in electrical and/or estimating in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of NEMA standards, electrical schematics, substation practices.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong abilities with software applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and understanding of database applications Epicor/Eclipse.
  • Goal-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work well within a team environment
  • Adaptive, quick learner, exceptional organization, and reporting skills with the ability to have attention to detail while multi-tasking

Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate bills of materials (BOM) and cost estimates for custom panel boards and combination starters.
  • Interpret and analyze electrical project specifications, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to ensure client requirements are fully understood and met.
  • Source and price components, ensuring cost-efficiency and timely procurement.
  • Prepare detailed proposals and timelines for fabrication and delivery.
  • Supports cross functional teams such as quotations and outside sales by providing resourceful problem solving.
  • Provides project status reports to customers.
  • Works with reps and manufacturers to ensure that deliveries are maintained.
  • Manages change orders and communicates all project changes to team.
  • Maintains project file and ensures that all key information is maintained and accessible if needed.
  • Identify potential roadblocks and proactively develop solutions that keep projects on track and expectations aligned.
  • Confirms that all invoicing and receiving are complete prior to project close out.
  • Occasionally meet with customers to establish expectations, timelines, and other necessary project updates
  • Evaluate bid documents, one line diagrams, drawings to generate and submit competitive bids.
  • Monitors ordering activities associated with bid projects to ensure pricing and terms accuracy.
  • Communicates proactively with customers throughout the quotation/bid process.
  • Formulates unique pricing strategies in collaboration with sales and management representatives.
  • Stays informed about inventory, including appropriate product substitutions.
  • Develops and enhances product knowledge, attending relevant training classes.
  • Negotiates special pricing contracts and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Fosters effective working relationships with Sales Associates, Inside Sales Associates, and support personnel.
  • Exchanges customers’ needs information timely.
