About The Position

The Event Support and Material Movement work study is responsible for working in a team environment, exercising good judgment, problem-solving skills, and effective communication, while providing support and supplies to the University for Events. Work Studies should be able to work independently with minimal supervision, assist with numerous moving and event support logistics, and complete special tasks when assigned. The Event Support work study reports to the Associate Director and Managers of Event Support and Material Movement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Event Support Responsibilities: Deliver, set up and break down event material for University events. Deliver, set up and break down tables and chairs for University events. Deliver, set up and break down pipe and drape for University events. Complete special tasks as assigned. Additional information may be found here QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED required. ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB Communication and Comprehension Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information. Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner. Problem Solving Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of a routine nature. Physical and Sensory Abilities Frequently required to travel to local and campus locations. Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally. Frequently required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building. Frequently handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business. Regularly lift 50 or fewer pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS Work Environment The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is both an indoor and outdoor setting.
