Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED
  • Minimum of six months health care environmental services experience.
  • Successful completion of specialized sterile areas cleaning training as applicable
  • Working knowledge of basic cleaning procedures, particularly as it relates to the sterile areas.
  • Working knowledge of materials, methods and practices used in cleaning operations.
  • Working knowledge of the operation and care of cleaning electrical equipment and other EVS equipment.
  • Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces.
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and odor control in work area.
  • Ability to read and write and follow direct written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to multi-task and collaborate with key stakeholders.
  • Must pass the Physical Capacity Exam (PCE). This exam includes a 50-pound lifting requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cleaning and disinfection of all Sterile areas, with particular attention to the special needs in surgical areas; sterile processing; and medication rooms in accordance with regulatory standards and established organization’s procedures.
  • Aware of medication room access and security protocol, to include immediately reporting any security breach.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
