The purpose of this classification is to provide teaching support and services under the direction of a licensed special education teacher in the implementation of Individual Education Programs for students with disabilities in general or special education classrooms, one-on-one or in small group settings, or with special, more narrowly defined services, or as otherwise needed. Hixson High School is a 9-12 school located in Hixson, TN, just north of Chattanooga. The mission of Hixson High School is to provide an individualized, safe learning environment for all students to grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially in order to be productive, global citizens. We have a collaborative culture committed to student achievement and teacher/staff development. We are proud to offer our students post-secondary pathways through three Future Ready Institutes: Institute of Business Leaders and Owners, CHI Memorial Institute of Healthcare and Medical Careers, and the Institute of Integrative Agriculture Sciences and Natural Resources. In addition, Hixson highlights the arts through our orchestra, concert and jazz bands, concert and show choir, drama, and award-winning visual arts program. Hixson has a plethora of advanced and extended learning opportunities to include: Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Enrollment, and State Dual Credit courses. Additionally, Hixson High furthers its opportunities for students through its award winning JROTC Air Force. Students can participate in an array of sports, clubs, and organizations including but not limited to: football, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, golf, bowling, soccer, baseball, softball, cheerleading, track and field, FBLA, HOSA, FFA, National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy, Amazon Emerging Engineers, Engineering Real World Scholars and Environthon and Science Troupe. We are looking for teachers who are committed to children, who are able to connect and relate with a diverse student body, and who respect all cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Candidates should be competent in subject matter, willing to be pedagogically coached, and committed to being a team player.
