About The Position

BASIC FUNCTION: The Exam Proctor assists in the successful administration of college examinations and exam proctoring functions on an as-needed basis. This position manages the proctoring of exams in a designated testing room or environment, including monitoring, compliance enforcement, and student support. The Exam Proctor serves as an impartial overseer to uphold academic integrity. This position requires organizational abilities, communication skills, attention to detail, initiative, professionalism, and reliability. This position will oversee and support one to two students per exam, per shift or will assist faculty members with proctoring whole classroom exams as requested. This is an on-call, part-time, temporary position. Regular hours will vary and may require work in the morning, afternoon, or evenings to support the needs of the College during the academic year, particularly during midterm and final exam peak periods.

Requirements

  • Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to high school diploma or GED that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability.
  • Knowledge of College academic integrity policies.
  • Must understand exam administration protocols and best practices for maintaining a secure, fair testing environment.
  • Ability to observe, lead, and calmly address students to ensure compliance and minimize disruptions.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with staff, students, and departmental personnel.
  • Ability to remain present, focused, and observant for extended periods.
  • Ability to maintain student confidentiality and handle materials securely.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Accessibility Services team to implement and ensure effective execution of exam protocols and arrangements.
  • Enforce College policies on academic integrity by monitoring for irregularities, verifying student identification, and addressing any violations or concerns in accordance with established procedures.
  • Independently manage testing sessions through organization of student check-in, seating arrangements, and adherence to approved accommodations and faculty allowances.
  • Use appropriate discretion in determining which issues require escalation to supervisors or administrators.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
  • Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment.
