About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno seeks candidates for the Assistant or Executive Assistant to the President. This role reports to the Chief of Staff, and serves as a primary support administrator for the President of the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). This position plays a crucial role in various aspects of business operations within the President's Office. Key responsibilities include serving as a resource for faculty and staff, managing inquiries, complaints, and problems, coordinating travel arrangements, establishing procedures, implementing operational changes, and overseeing the President's schedule. Additionally, the role involves managing meetings and appointments, attending university functions, and handling the logistics of visitors. This position is also involved in activities related to the Board of Regents, Chancellor, and NV System of Higher Education. This includes attending meetings, organizing and preparing Board of Regents meetings, working with the Office of General Counsel, and managing university operations for quarterly Board of Regents meetings. In the realm of project research, the Assistant initiates research, report writing, and recommendations based on minimal direction, conducts interviews and policy research, and provides analysis to resolve issues and respond to inquiries. Fiscal administration responsibilities involve managing budgets, planning accounts, preparing reports, auditing accounts, and developing annual and biennial budgets in consultation with leadership. The individual also keeps leadership informed of activities within accounts, analyzes reports, and makes recommendations for reallocation of funds. In terms of human resources and leadership, the Assistant organizes cross-training and skill enhancement, coordinates faculty searches, oversees payroll and personnel activities, assists with onboarding, ensures compliance with personnel and regulations, and handles the preparation and submission of requested reports. Regular communication with the Director of Special Projects and Chief of Staff is maintained to keep them informed of changes in personnel issues and governing regulations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years or Master’s degree and two (2) years of related work experience.
  • Related Experience: Serving as the direct assistant to a senior-level manager.
  • Driver’s license
