The best-qualified Executive Chef will balance a strategic, program-driven approach with strong, hands-on kitchen experience and the ability to deliver results through others. A critical element of the role is ensuring staff accessibility, achieved by being on the floor during service hours and demonstrating strong leadership. This position manages all aspects of back-of-the-house operations, including ordering, inventory, staff training, and development, and has a significant involvement in sustainability and local purchasing programs. Central State University is an HBCU (Historically Black College/University) that is 35 minutes from Springfield and Dayton. Reporting to the General Manager, the Executive Chef will be responsible for the culinary direction of the residential dining hall, retail outlets, and catering. Dining services on campus offer resident dining for 1500+ students, a WOW Cafe, SubConnection, and a Grocery Store.
