About The Position

We are seeking an experienced credit professional to work in New York, NY as part of the Global Credit Strategy team within J.P. Morgan Wealth Management. This dynamic role will emphasize corporate credit analysis, investment idea generation, and communication skills. The role involves forming fundamental investment views in corporate bond markets (including investment grade credit, high yield credit, emerging markets debt, corporate hybrids, and preferreds), generating security specific investment ideas, building and maintaining company financial models, writing research notes, communicating with wealth management internal and external clients, and performing customized portfolio analysis for those clients.

Requirements

  • 5 years work experience in corporate credit research. Emerging Markets and/or Financials experience, and/or Spanish speaking viewed favorably. Must be willing to cover credits across a variety of industries under a generalist model. Strong financial modeling and accounting experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to make judgments regarding credit, risk, and security valuation. Ability to form an investment recommendation with minimal direction and to make preliminary decisions in a short time frame with incomplete information.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, that demonstrate credibility and the ability to take complex topics and distill them into digestible narratives.
  • Strong understanding of and passion for fixed income and credit markets and security types.
  • Strong academic credentials and achievement.
  • High energy, self-motivated, creative and organized. Attention to detail.
  • Very strong excel and data management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with others of varying functions globally (traders, market strategists, client advisors, etc) with varying credit experience. Team-oriented mindset is a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for CFA designation.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor existing bond recommendations and generate new security specific investment ideas. Proactively articulate investment ideas by initiating discussions with team rather than relying on external direction. Ownership over security recommendations from initiation to exit.
  • Produce written reports such as company evaluations and quarterly updates, relative value analyses, and industry reviews. Author thematic thought pieces relating to both top down and bottoms up market opportunities for internal and client use.
  • Assist in training of junior talent on the team.
  • Provide investment advice to advisors and wealth management clients by fielding inquiries on credit markets and company views, participating in client meetings, and presenting on advisor calls.
  • Provide customized portfolio analysis for clients and recommend specific trade ideas based on the clients' objectives and constraints.
