The smallest of the four Duke Health hospitals at 123-beds, it offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopedics, women's services, and surgical specialties.Summary & Work Performed The Rehabilitation Department Exercise Physiologist oversees treatment of patients in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and program functions for those patients. The Exercise Physiologist is competent to modify and instruct exercises for patients in the Cardiac Rehabilitation program, Fitness, (Phase IV Cardiac Rehab), and/or Therapy programs.  The Exercise Physiologist works with other Exercise Physiologists, Nurses, athletic trainers, or Physical therapists to make sure that Cardiac Rehabilitation is carried out per state and Federal guidelines. Other duties required are: answering phones, communicating with Physicians and other team members. The Exercise Physiologist will assist maintenance of exercise equipment in the Rehabilitation and Cardiac Rehab Departments. The Exercise Physiologist may participate in health related education activities for the community in regard to cardiac and Rehabilitation programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or Specialist.
  • Six months or more of clinical experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support is required to supervise Cardiac Rehab patients during exercise (ACLS).

Responsibilities
