About The Position

As an Expediter, you will be responsible for staging/keeping work stations fully stocked with materials, thus controlling the continuous flow of productivity, assuring that the daily production and on-time-delivery schedules are met in each department throughout the plant.

Requirements

  • The ability to lift 75 lbs. by yourself, 150 in tandem.
  • Both fast pick up and ability to walk quickly.
  • Understands basic manufacturing processes and how inventory control interacts with upstream and downstream functions.
  • Good computer skills and ability to query, monitor and input ERP system data.
  • Able to work with multiple priorities and people.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to professionally communicate and work with others.
  • Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Attendance / Punctuality: Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.
  • Safety and Security: Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Teamwork: Balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Contributes to building a positive team spirit
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ year(s) manufacturing experience. Glass industry experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that JIT is happening—just the right amount of materials and supplies at the right time in the right place.
  • Responsible for the movement of glass and materials into the production areas to be staged into the work stations and within the factory.
  • Assist in 5S, continuous improvement and Lean activities proactively and as assigned.
  • Keeps the flow in the factory clean and smooth by taking on the occasional tasks (tasks that do not happen every cycle, such as material replenishment and locating missing glass).
  • Retrieve and organize racks, carts, pallets, etc. as required.
  • Determines proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
  • Cleans and maintains supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Issues or distributes glass, materials, parts, and supplies to appropriate departments or individuals, based on information from incoming requisitions.
  • Examines and inspects glass for cracks or defects, reporting any damage to management.
  • Maintains a safe, organized and efficient work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
