As an Experienced Thermal Hydraulics Codes and Methods Engineer in Richland, WA, you will be part of the proven team in the Fuel Development Business Line in the Fuel Business Unit. This job opening is for the BWR Thermal-Hydraulics Codes and Methods group, which is responsible for designing and developing numerical methods and the software primarily used to design, simulate, and license Framatome fuel products. The team performs research and development of new codes and methods, addresses emergent issues, and responds to requests from internal and external customers. Your work will include designing or changing software under NQA-1 requirements that simulate nuclear power plants, performing data analysis that supports research and development and licensing of nuclear power plants, and supporting internal and external customers in the development of new or continuous improvement of existing software.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related Engineering degree
  • At least 5 years of directly related experience
  • Good communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data
  • Advanced problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Advanced level of Microsoft Office and business unit specific software tools (ex. CAD, FEA, CFD, etc.) and computer programming skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in software development and design pertaining to data analysis, engineering applications, or numerical analysis
  • Experience with NQA-1 or similar software requirements and standards
  • High level programming experience in C, C++, and Python
  • Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, time management, collaborative, continuous improvement, adaptability
  • Preferred experience or education in physics, engineering, or related fields
