Experienced Cost Analyst/Applied Mathematician Company: The Boeing Company The Boeing Company - Space and Launch – Estimating and Pricing, is seeking an Experienced Cost Analyst/Applied Mathematician located in El Segundo, CA . This challenging and highly visible role will support development of parametric cost estimates, Cost Estimating Relationships (CERs), cost model improvements, technical data collection, and analysis. Position Responsibilities: Interprets and formulates problems in mathematical or computational terms Develops algorithms and evaluates resources to solve mathematical problems Assists with mathematical research Contributes to the development of research proposals Influences colleagues and customers to use mathematical tools and processes Codes, tests and maintains mathematical software tools Leads and support in the design of cost models, dashboards, metrics and reports utilizing standard technologies and methodologies that support cost analysis objectives Leads engagement with technical focals to assess cost impacts of current and new technology through technical data collection and analysis Independently determines and develops approaches to mathematically sound assessments in support of cost estimates; and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts Combines basic programming, SQL skills, best practices to lead delivery of recommendations through the highest levels of leadership Interacts frequently with inter-organizational personnel and external customers Represents the organization by providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience): Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. statistics, operations research, information systems, bioinformatics, economics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or similar quantitative fields) 3+ years of experience with estimating techniques and relationships used in practical application (e.g. cost models, cost estimating relationships) 3+ years of experience in running statistical analysis on large datasets, drawing conclusions from analyses, and presenting same Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Experience analyzing technical data Experience performing parametric estimates Experience briefing cost recommendations up through all levels of the company Experience understanding of software programming languages and databases Technical understanding of satellites Experience communicating and presenting to executive leadership Working knowledge of proposal process Drug Free Workplace: Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.
