About The Position
Welcome to our Operating Room Department! We provide professional and skilled surgical care to patients using the “patient centered care” model of SMHCS (policy 126.054) in accordance with the ANA Standards of Professional Practice, and with the AORN guidelines for Perioperative Practice. We are a 36 OR suite unit with numerous specialties that you can work in. Operating Room: Patient Population: patients with elective, urgent, and emergent need for a surgical intervention. Routine to traumatic diagnoses requiring complex nursing assessment skills and care including but not limited to: • Any trauma related fractures or orthopedic abnormalities requiring surgical intervention or traction application, splinting, casts, or other skeletal immobilization. • Acute Traumatic Brain Injuries. • Cardiac and Thoracic interventions. • Acute General Surgical care. • GYN, GU, Robotic, Oncology, Orthopedic, Podiatry, ENT, Vascular, and Plastics. • Work in state of the art facility, across the surgical suites. • Working with Anesthesia and an inter-disciplinary team focused on excellence in patient care. Requirements
- Requires previous experience working as an Operating Room Nurse
- Require excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Require basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended for experienced RNs.
- PALS (Pediatric Life Support) recommended for experienced RNs.
- Completion of PeriOp 101 for those new to the OR.
- Successful completion of multi-specialty orientation.
- BSN requirement within 5 years of date of hire for the ASN candidate
- FL RN: FL Registered Nurse License
