About The Position

The Shop Fabrication Foreman oversees daily fabrication shop operations, supervising personnel, coordinating workflow, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. This role leads by example, maintains production schedules, and ensures compliance with company and industry standards. The ideal candidate is a collaborative teammate who learns quickly, asks thoughtful questions, and thrives in a fast-paced, fully-custom, shop environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Technical/trade certification preferred)
  • 8+ years of fabrication experience; 2+ years in a leadership role preferred
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes, metal fabrication, and shop equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards
  • Proven team player with clear and respectful communication skills
  • Curious and eager to learn new tools, processes and industry standards
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the initiative to dig into issues and propose solutions
  • Capable of maintaining accurate project records, reports, and drawing packages
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs at once

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of welders, fitters, machinists, and shop laborers
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor workflow to meet production schedules
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate shop personnel
  • Foster a team-oriented, accountable, and safety-focused work environment
  • Conduct toolbox talks and enforce shop safety protocols
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Ensure fabrication meets required tolerances and quality standards
  • Inspect work in progress and finished products
  • Coordinate with engineering and project management to resolve technical issues
  • Monitor material usage and minimize waste
  • Enforce OSHA and company safety regulations
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and equipment
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop environment
  • Report and document incidents as required
  • Oversee proper use and maintenance of fabrication equipment
  • Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Ensure tools and machinery are in safe operating condition
  • Track job progress and communicate status updates
  • Coordinate material deliveries and inventory needs
  • Assist with workforce planning and overtime scheduling
