About The Position

This manufacturing position is focused on our Generator Manufacturing Division. We are seeking a detail-oriented Fabrication Machine Programmer to join our team. Fabrication Machine Programmers are responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs used in the fabrication of our steel, copper, and polypropylene components. This role ensures that production equipment—such as laser cutters, press brakes, punch/shears, waterjets, and other automated machinery—operates efficiently, safely, and with exceptional accuracy. The programmer collaborates closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to translate design specifications into high‑quality finished parts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to adhere to safety rules and guidelines established by Central Power and its customers
  • Experience with OSHA compliance and other applicable standards
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with both employees and customers
  • Ability to act on the instructions from a supervisor and work well alone or as members of a team
  • Ability to adapt performance based on feedback provided from peers, crew leaders, and management.
  • Ability to overcome obstacles utilizing problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as job needs dictate

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing setting, machinist and/or programmer experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop offline programs for press brake, laser, punch/shear and panel bender using brand-specific machine software from Inventor 3D CAD models of sheet metal parts
  • Simulate and test programs to verify accuracy and prevent machine collisions or material waste.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machine flow requirements.
  • Process revision changes to existing sheet metal parts to ensure offline programs are maintained at latest revision
  • Troubleshoot programming issues, machine errors, and fabrication defects.
  • Assist engineering team in design for manufacturability of sheet metal parts
  • Use MRP demand output to build nests and machine work queues ahead of production
  • Assist production planning in lot size selection to balance efficiency, inventory, and lead-time goals
  • Review all first piece runs at the machine to assure product conformance and to prove the accuracy and efficiency of the program and method
  • Perform time studies for estimation of cost and lead-time
  • Ability to perform additional duties as required
