Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in facilities management or a related field, or a minimum of three years of facilities management experience or a closely related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance practices required, along with strong project management skills.
  • Must obtain CPO certification within 120 days of employment and CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within 30 days.
  • A valid driver’s license and driving record that meets YMCA standards are required.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse social and economic backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of facilities management experience or related building operations experience
  • Supervisory or leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to respond to facility issues and emergencies as needed
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification, or willingness to obtain

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all facility maintenance, custodial services, and preventive maintenance programs
  • Ensure repairs and facility projects are completed efficiently and to high standards
  • Manage contractors and vendors working in the building and on YMCA grounds
  • Recruit, hire, schedule, and lead facilities staff
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback
  • Build a strong team culture focused on safety, service, and accountability
  • Maintain the highest safety standards for staff and members
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and all local, state, and federal regulations
  • Work with fire, health, and building departments as needed
  • Ensure proper operation and safety of pool systems, including chemical and filtration management
  • Maintain a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification
  • Ensure YMCA vehicles and equipment are maintained and used properly
  • Oversee lawn care, snow removal, and ice control
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment parts
  • Conduct weekly facility inspections and prioritize maintenance needs
  • Manage facility-related expenses responsibly within the branch budget
  • Collaborate with other YMCA branches when needed
  • Participate in branch and association meetings
