This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Level 1 Civil Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will support the design and construction of new site infrastructure under the supervision of a licensed engineer. This role is ideal for someone who has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and is committed to pursuing a Professional Engineering (PE) license.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or ability to pass within a year
  • Ambition to obtain a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in civil engineering (internship or co-op experience is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with site design and construction documentation.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to civil engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and green infrastructure.
  • Experience with industry standard softwares such as ICPR, WaterGEMs, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Design Support: Assist in the preparation and review of construction documents, including plans, specifications, and estimates. Contribute to the design of site infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, utilities, and retaining structures.
  • Project Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, and other engineers to ensure project goals are met. Participate in project meetings and contribute to discussions on design approaches and problem-solving.
  • Technical Tasks: Perform calculations and analyses to support design decisions. Utilize CAD software and other engineering tools to create and modify design documents.
  • Field Support: Assist in site visits to gather data, monitor construction progress, and ensure compliance with design intent. Prepare field reports and provide recommendations based on observations.
  • Professional Development: Pursue continuing education and professional development opportunities to advance toward obtaining a PE license. Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
