About The Position

FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I or II Tech I - Grade 10 Salary Range is $21.51 - $31.96 Tech II - Grade 11 Salary Range is $22.74 - $33.79 Tooele City generally hires at entry but may consider placement at higher step based on skills, experience, and certification. Tooele City is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Facilities Maintenance Technician I or II. In this position you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor.
  • Have a valid Utah driver's license (or obtain one within 1 month of hire), with at least 12 months of licensed driving experience and a driving record that meets City risk management and insurance standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in facilities maintenance or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • To be considered at Level II, you must possess a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license.
  • Other relevant certifications and trainings may be required, many of which can be obtained during employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct repairs and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
  • Handle basic carpentry, painting, and general maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and resolve issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to achieve organizational goals.
