About The Position

Jireh Semiconductor is looking to add a Sustaining Mechanical Engineer to our Facilities Department. This position will be responsible for sustaining reliability, maintenance oversight, and system upgrades for mechanical infrastructure supporting semiconductor manufacturing operations. JOB SUMMARY Provides primary engineering support for critical facility utility systems including cooling towers, chillers, process cooling water (PCW), low-pressure steam boilers, compressed air systems, process vacuum system, air handling units (AHUs), and acid/solvent treatment systems. Works closely with facilities technicians, engineers, contractors, and management to support safety reviews, work planning, operational troubleshooting, and system improvements. Ensures facility systems operate at optimal performance levels to maintain stable manufacturing conditions and prevent unplanned factory interruptions. Leads and supports facility improvement projects from concept through design, installation, commissioning, and project closeout.

Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ Years of Relevant Experience
  • Ability to use the following codes: UBC, UFC, NFPA, ASTM, ANSI

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to manage complex projects is a plus
  • Experience working around a fully operating semiconductor fab is a plus
  • Sustaining maintenance and system retrofit experience
  • Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and AutoCAD is a plus
  • Good communication and negotiation skills

Responsibilities

  • Analyze facility system performance data and optimize operating conditions for HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Generate and revise training documents for maintenance of cooling towers, chillers, process cooling water (PCW), low-pressure steam boilers, compressed air systems, process vacuum system, air handling units (AHUs), and acid/solvent treatment systems and associated piping/duct.
  • Review contractor safety documentation (SIPP forms) to ensure adherence to site procedures and prevent operational disruptions.
  • Manage facility infrastructure projects to ensure alignment with approved budgets, schedules, and project scope.
  • Develop technical specifications and engineering drawings for facility upgrade projects.
  • Ensure project closeout requirements are completed, including commissioning documentation, permit closure, and punch-list resolution.
  • Prepare Requests for Proposal (RFPs), obtain vendor quotes, evaluate proposals, and recommend contractor selection for facility projects.
  • Support procurement processes by preparing purchase requisitions (PRs), reviewing invoices, and tracking project expenditures.
  • Prepare and submit written reports as required.
  • Assist in training facilities technicians on the operation and maintenance of cooling towers, chillers, process cooling water (PCW), low-pressure steam boilers, compressed air systems, process vacuum system, air handling units (AHUs), and acid/solvent treatment systems and associated piping/duct.
  • Oversee contractor construction and facility fit-up activities to ensure compliance with site safety policies and operational requirements.
  • Assist in semiconductor tool installs in cleanroom environment.
  • Continuously evaluate products and make recommendations regarding alternative mechanical and tool hookup equipment, materials and installation methods.
  • Audit existing mechanical systems and insure specifications are met.
  • Troubleshoot out of specification problem(s). Identify problem and implement solution.
  • Review, comment and approve various engineering designs for compliance with company policies and specifications as well as governmental requirements.
  • Drive 6S and audit compliance for all mechanical systems and areas.
  • Conduct routine plant rounds to verify mechanical systems are operating within design parameters.
  • Assist in responding to facility system alarms using safe work practices, troubleshooting techniques, and established escalation procedures.
  • Support facilities technicians during preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Perform field walks to identify system deficiencies, verify P&IDs, and support project execution while maintaining safety and fab uptime.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Facilities Manager.
