About The Position

Environment of Care Compliance Specialist - Facilities This position is responsible for monitoring and tracking the organization’s compliance with, and also providing regulatory expertise and guidance as it relates to Joint Commission’s Environment of Care (EOC), Life Safety and Emergency Management (EM) Standards, and the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Conditions of Participation related to the Physical Environment. You will monitor enterprise-wide compliance with The Joint Commission Environment of Care, Emergency Management, and Life Safety Standards and the Elements of Performance. You will conduct compliance audits according to the applicable federal, state, and local regulations including life safety, environment of care, emergency management, infection control, water safety, ligature/self-harm risks, and other emerging risks. You will review conditions/ deficiencies in accordance with applicable codes/standards and exceptions where applicable and update the database management system(s) as necessary and keeps track of all approved life safety waivers and equivalencies. Responsible for reviewing and updating Life Safety Building Feature Drawings for new renovations and existing facilities. This is a full time role located at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. This will oversee Environment of Care Compliance initiatives throughout the enterprise.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in healthcare Environment of Care, Life Safety, Emergency Management and/or an equivalent field
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with word processing, database management and spreadsheet development
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Fire Science or related field or equivalent in experience
