About The Position

The Facility Services Crew Leader coordinates daily operational activities and supports event operations at Island Grove Regional Park, a large multi-use event complex. This position assists with preparing indoor and outdoor venues for events, coordinating event setup and teardown activities, and ensuring facilities and grounds are maintained in a safe, clean, and operational condition. This role provides day-to-day work direction to operations staff and seasonal employees and helps coordinate the preparation of event spaces including arenas, buildings, outdoor grounds, and support areas. Responsibilities include overseeing event setup and turnover, maintaining equipment and event infrastructure, performing light facility maintenance, and assisting with grounds operations such as snow removal, waste management, and upkeep of indoor and outdoor event spaces.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of demonstrated experience in a lead role coordinating staff and/or work assignments
  • Two (2) years of experience performing custodial, facility maintenance, grounds maintenance, and/or event operations duties in a public facility, park, or event venue
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Current certification in Community CPR, First Aid, and AED, or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish OR any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) to three (3) years of additional related experience
  • Experience working in an event venue, fairgrounds, arena, or large public facility
  • Experience operating equipment used in facility maintenance, grounds operations, or event support such as forklifts, skid steers, and floor care equipment

Responsibilities

  • Direct custodial staff and assist with cleaning and maintaining designated facilities to meet operational and event standards.
  • Coordinate and assist with event setup and teardown activities including tables, chairs, staging, barricades, fencing, livestock panels, flooring, and other event infrastructure.
  • Prepare indoor and outdoor event spaces to meet operational timelines, safety requirements, and event specifications.
  • Assist with efficient turnover of facilities and grounds between events to support continuous operations.
  • Provide day-to-day work direction to operations staff and seasonal employees; assign tasks, communicate priorities, and support work completion.
  • Serve as an onsite operational contact during events and assist with addressing operational needs that arise.
  • Perform cleaning and upkeep of buildings, arenas, restrooms, and event spaces to maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment.
  • Perform light facility maintenance including minor repairs, painting, site cleanup, and basic preventative maintenance of equipment and facility systems within scope of assignment.
  • Assist with outdoor grounds operations including trash removal, site cleanup, and upkeep of outdoor event areas.
  • Assist with snow removal and ice mitigation to maintain safe access to facilities, walkways, parking areas, and event spaces.
  • Operate and maintain equipment used for facility operations and event support.
  • Maintain operational supplies and inventory of equipment used for events and facility maintenance; report needs and help coordinate restocking.
  • Implement and support safe work practices to reduce injuries and maintain safe operations; report hazards and assist with corrective actions.
  • Provide excellent customer service to event organizers, vendors, facility users, and internal partners.
  • Inspect work to ensure quality and quantity standards are met and address issues in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement ways to reduce costs and/or improve services within assigned operations.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and other City teams to ensure event needs are understood and met.
  • Keep records and generate and provide necessary reports (e.g., checklists, work logs, supply/equipment status, and incident-related documentation as assigned).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
