About The Position

The Facilities Worker I supports the safety, appearance, and functionality of Pagosa Springs Medical Center by performing groundskeeping, basic maintenance, preventative maintenance, and emergency response activities. This role works both indoors and outdoors and plays an important part in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least one (1) year of experience in groundskeeping or related maintenance preferred
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry, painting, groundskeeping, and customer service
  • Willingness to learn building-specific skills
  • Current AHA BLS (Heart Saver) certification required
  • Life Safety training preferred (may be completed on the job)
  • Basic computer skills (email, work order systems)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain hospital grounds, landscaping, sidewalks, parking lots, and entrances
  • Perform snow and ice removal, including sidewalks, parking areas, and roofs as needed
  • Operate power equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other tools
  • Pick up litter, empty trash receptacles, and power wash exterior areas
  • Assist with basic carpentry, painting, and minor building repairs
  • Complete preventative maintenance and assigned work orders
  • Respond to urgent and emergency facility needs
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed
  • Interact professionally with patients, visitors, staff, and vendors
  • Promote a safe work environment and comply with all safety protocols
