About The Position

Reporting directly to the Business Officer at a multi-custody male correctional facility, this position’s primary responsibilities are supervision of subordinate staff, administrative tasks and para-professional engineering work in the Maintenance Department. This position will ensure that the facility is maintained in a safe and efficient manner. Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Overseeing all aspects of management and supervision of staff skilled in building trades and grounds maintenance as well as management of all facility maintenance, utility systems, mechanical systems and minor construction and renovation. 2. Possessing knowledge of general construction plans and specific components within the correctional facility. 3. Making all final technical decision in wide variety of trades, administering work orders, directing the preventative maintenance program, purchasing supplies and material, maintaining stock control of tools and supplies, advising management concerning the technical aspects of the facility. 4. Acting as primary liaison to the designers, contractors, local officials and regularity agencies (technically representing the facility to state construction and other government units.), participating in overall management and policy making for the facility. 5. Working under general administration and limited technical supervision and is responsible for inspecting the facility for maintenance needs and safety hazards.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in construction management, air conditioning, heating and refrigeration technology, industrial maintenance technology or mechanical engineering technology from an appropriately accredited institution AND four (4) years of progressive experience in construction or facility maintenance including two (2) years of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities; OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND five (5) years of progressive experience in facility maintenance or construction including experience in at least three (3) building or mechanical trades including two (2) years of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.

  • Documented working knowledge of commercial/industrial maintenance.
