About The Position

THIS IS AN ANTICIPATED VACANCY. This position is located at Bertie Correctional Institution. The purpose of this position is supervision and coordination of maintenance of the physical plant, ensuring the facility is maintained in a safe and efficient manner.

Requirements

• High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four (4) years of progressive experience in facility maintenance or construction including experience in at least three (3) building or mechanical trades including one (1) year of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.
• Applicants must pass a background check to be eligible for this job.
• Documented working knowledge of commercial/industrial maintenance.
• Documented knowledge of the tools, equipment and material used in the building and mechanical trades.

Responsibilities

• Supervision and coordination of maintenance of the physical plant
• Ensuring the facility is maintained in a safe and efficient manner
• Directly supervise a large group pf maintenance personnel, assigned and review work performed
• Assist with administration of comprehensive preventative maintenance program and reports of personnel, equipment, work performed inventories
• Serve as backup for the Facility Maintenance Manager in his/her absence
• Provide training to subordinate staff to maintain appropriate skill level and workplace safety
• Maintain direct contact with the Facility Maintenance Manager
• Provide information in a timely and proper manner
• Participate in facility inspections as required
