About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operating results. The successful candidate will oversee the company’s facility operations while remaining in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • A High school diploma or GED is required; an advanced degree is preferred; extensive experience may be considered in lieu of education
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Requires proficiency with computer hardware and software to include Microsoft Office applications, using a computer with a keyboard and mouse, navigation with a web browser, checking and sending email, and use of internet search engines
  • Requires an active and valid driver's license
  • Requires a driving record free from moving violations, accidents, driving-related convictions, or points within three years
  • Requires a Transportation Worker’s Identification Credential (TWIC) or the ability to obtain
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills, including self-awareness and the ability to deal professionally with others and always make professional judgments

Responsibilities

  • Ability to acknowledge requests for services which may include but are not limited to requests for: furniture maintenance and repair, door closer repair and installation, gate access, HVAC units, cabinet relocation and installation, light bulb replacement and troubleshooting, ceiling tile replacement, minor floor and carpet repairs, picture hanging, and Mobile Ops facilities routines, etc.
  • Ability to always communicate effectively and professionally
  • Ability to communicate with the facilities supervisor and the facilities service help desk function to execute requests for services and to close out requests for services promptly
  • Ability to complete a monthly maintenance schedule for each dock in Galveston, Freeport, and Houston as requested
  • Ability to complete detailed preventative maintenance schedule for each of the docks to include gates (LiftMaster CAPXLV & SL300 Operator is a plus), fencing, lighting, grounds, supply Connex facilities, docks, railing, equipment, gangways, or other assigned structures
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters and areas of the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple demands simultaneously while maintaining service standards
  • Ability to operate a forklift or dock crane
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, painting, climbing a ladder, and working with tools as required
  • Ability to perform routine walkthroughs of facilities to assess general conditions as required
  • Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Assist all department personnel as required and requested
  • Update and overall maintenance of company facilities as assigned
  • Assist the management and or executive team when requested to complete special projects and complete all assignments within a negotiated time frame established by the department manager
  • Completion of other duties as assigned by the department manager, as it relates to the program and position
