About The Position

The facilities operations maintenance specialist will be an apprentice to our vehicle maintenance, plumbing, electrical and carpentry departments. Assists with and learns to perform preventative maintenance for building systems (exterior and interior, floors, walls, windows, finishes and hardware, keys, panel alarm hardware, etc.), plumbing, electrical assistance, no live wire electrical, and to perform preventative maintenance on automotive vehicles. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Works in accordance with verbal and written instructions and works with supervisor or designee to prioritize assigned work requests Diagnoses, repairs, installs and maintains a variety of equipment and fixtures requiring carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other trades’ skills Performs basic plumbing repairs such as replacing broken pipes, cleaning plugged drains, flushing sewer lines and replacing faucets, washers or gaskets Assembles and repairs furniture, and playground equipment Replaces door hinges, windows, locks and thresholds Inspects heating, air conditioning and ventilating systems to ensure proper heat and air flow; checks room temperature and performs minor maintenance on HVAC systems Services fans, filters, compressors, pumps and other equipment by oiling, greasing, packing and cleaning as required Determines needed supplies and materials to complete work orders/projects and estimates cost of materials Operates hand and power tools Locates and repairs minor roof leaks Maintains service vehicle with gas, water and oil and refers major mechanical problems to appropriate source Maintains daily log of work completed, materials used, time spent, etc. Cleans, maintains, and repairs tools and equipment used in maintenance and operations Performs preventive maintenance and emergency repairs at all site location Performs related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years experience
  • Working knowledge of maintenance, plumbing, electrical and carpentry
  • Maintains a working knowledge of materials, systems and code requirements related to maintenance of ministry facilities.
  • Responds to ministry and college emergencies and closures including adverse weather to be certain that all facilities are protected and remain operational. Assists with tasks required in preparing to open campuses after a closure including snow and ice removal, systems and equipment checks, and start-up operations as assigned
  • Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Available on call 24 hours a day
  • Born again believer and must adhere to the doctrines of this organization as upheld by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland and their appointed representatives
  • Must work well with others, as a team and according to Romans 16:17, must not cause dissension, difficulties and divisions
  • Must maintain a good attendance record
  • Because of the wide range of personal contact with ministry leaders within and outside the organization, this position requires considerable diplomacy, maturity, and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work with people of all cultures
  • Able to lift 75 to 100 pounds
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions (hot/cold)
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions. May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, noise and temperature extremes. Position involves frequent bending, standing, kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching below and above shoulders, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. while performing job duties. Wrist, hand and finger dexterity is required to operate various equipment and materials.
