About The Position

The Faculty Affairs Manager oversees and coordinates faculty lifecycle processes across the healthcare system’s academic and clinical departments. This role ensures compliance with institutional policies and accrediting bodies while supporting faculty recruitment, onboarding, appointment, promotion, tenure, and professional development. The Faculty Affairs Manager collaborates closely with department chairs, HR, legal, compliance, and academic leadership to maintain accurate faculty records and streamline faculty-related operations. This position plays a critical role in fostering a supportive and equitable environment for faculty success and retention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in faculty affairs, academic administration, or HR in a healthcare or academic setting.
  • Relevant education or experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • 7 years of progressive experience in faculty affairs or academic HR.
  • Experience in a large academic medical center or health system.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)
  • Certified Faculty Affairs Professional

Responsibilities

  • Manages Faculty Lifecycle Processes Coordinates faculty recruitment, appointment, reappointment, promotion, and tenure processes.
  • Ensures compliance with institutional, accrediting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential faculty records and documentation.
  • Works closely with HR and legal to ensure alignment with employment policies.
  • Oversees onboarding and orientation for new faculty members.
  • Supports Academic Governance and Policy Implementation Interprets and applies faculty-related policies and procedures.
  • Advises academic leadership on policy changes and implications.
  • Drafts and updates faculty affairs policies in collaboration with legal and compliance.
  • Coordinates faculty handbook revisions and dissemination.
  • Ensures consistent application of policies across departments.
  • Facilitates Faculty Development and Awards Coordinates internal and external faculty award nominations.
  • Maintains and updates award information and deadlines; collaborates with UT Austin and Dell Med stakeholders to ensure timely submission of nomination materials.
  • Collaborates with academic leadership to identify development needs.
  • Organizes faculty development programs, workshops, and events.
  • Tracks participation and evaluates program effectiveness.
  • Promotes faculty engagement and recognition programs.
  • Oversees Faculty Data and Reporting Prepares reports for accreditation, compliance, and institutional planning.
  • Analyzes faculty metrics such as diversity, retention, and promotion rates.
  • Supports data requests from leadership and external agencies.
  • Ensures data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Collaborates with Internal and External Stakeholders Serves as liaison between faculty, departments, and administrative offices.
  • Coordinates with credentialing, HR, compliance, and legal teams.
  • Represents faculty affairs in institutional committees and task forces.
  • Communicates effectively with faculty on processes and timelines.
  • Supports external audits and accreditation site visits.
  • Leads Process Improvement and Special Projects Identifies opportunities to streamline faculty affairs operations.
  • Implements process improvements and automation tools.
  • Manages special projects related to academic affairs.
  • Benchmarks best practices in faculty affairs management.
  • Supports change management and communication strategies.
