Faculty Professional Development Coordinator - (part-time) This position provides for the continued advancement and coordination of faculty development initiatives at Brigham Young University. It supports student-success-centered university-wide faculty development programming while strengthening collaboration across academic units. Reporting to the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, this role builds upon existing faculty development efforts to further align teaching, mentoring, and scholarship with BYU’s mission, AIMS, and strategic priorities.

Requirements

  • Master’s in Education with 5 years of experience in teaching and learning
  • Substantial experience in faculty development, teaching and learning support, or academic leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate complex initiatives and collaborate effectively across academic units.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in Education with a demonstrated research record in professional development.
  • Direct experience with BYU faculty development programs (e.g., YFI, STEMFI).
  • Experience supervising staff and managing budgets.
  • Familiarity with BYU policies, governance structures, and academic culture.
  • Demonstrated commitment to BYU’s mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Faculty Cohort Program Development and Implementation
  • Strategize, organize, and oversee a cohort-based faculty development program, using ongoing assessment and feedback to guide continuous improvement and ensure alignment with institutional goals.
  • Facilitate and coordinate faculty peer and mentor feedback through cohort meetings during a semester-long course development and implementation process.
  • Design and develop student-success–centered, evidence-based pedagogical resources for faculty participants through sustained cohort communication.
  • Serve as a resource and advisor to faculty participants, faculty mentors, department leaders, and academic administrators.
  • Organizational Leadership and Stewardship
  • Mentor and coordinate professional staff and program contributors in developing curriculum and resource materials for faculty participants.
  • Develop and sustain methodologically appropriate subject-area networks within and across colleges to support ongoing faculty teaching and student learning development campus-wide.
  • Manage program resources with an emphasis on responsible stewardship and alignment with BYU values.
  • Assessment and Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to assessment efforts to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of faculty development initiatives.
  • Use data, feedback, and institutional knowledge to support continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
  • Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with CTL consultants, faculty, department chairs, and deans to ensure alignment and shared ownership of faculty development efforts.
  • Serve on committees and working groups related to teaching excellence and faculty and student success.
