The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown invites applications for an Assistant Professor Appointment Stream (AS) position to start in August 2026. The position requires a PhD in one of the existing engineering areas offered at the University (Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical) and industry experience. The position is focused on the introductory level courses within the curriculum, with a responsibility of coordinating the two-course introductory engineering sequence required of all engineering majors, teaching sections of each of these courses (Engineering Analysis and Engineering Computing), teaching other core engineering courses such as Probability and Statistics for Engineers and Engineering Economics, and teaching upper-level courses in their specialty area. Appointment Stream positions have both professional development and service expectations and opportunities for promotion. The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is an undergraduate teaching college, with positions teaching the equivalent of 12 credits (lecture and/or laboratory) per term. The University is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their leadership, research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. The Engineering and Computer Science Division enrolls approximately 500 students across 5 engineering programs and computer science. The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is a regional campus of the University of Pittsburgh and is located approximately 80 miles east of Pittsburgh on a picturesque 650 acres in the Laurel Highland Region of Western Pennsylvania.
