About the position

Community Impact (CI) is a hyperlocal news organization delivering neighborhood-focused journalism through print, digital, and targeted marketing solutions. We work closely with local businesses to connect them with the communities they serve. We are seeking a Fall Sales Intern who’s eager to learn the ins and outs of media sales, prospecting, and community engagement while making a real impact on our revenue growth. This role offers a mix of training, field experience, and hands-on sales outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Research and identify local advertising prospects using a variety of sources (local publications, billboards, online listings, dormant leads, and more)
  • Contact potential clients via phone, email, and social media to set up discovery calls for our Account Executives
  • Log activity, track progress, and maintain accurate records in our CRM system
  • Shadow sales team members in client meetings, community events, and internal planning sessions
  • Learn about CI’s advertising products, sales process, and community-driven approach
  • Contribute to measurable revenue growth through qualified leads and scheduled appointments

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills — you’re comfortable speaking with business owners
  • Organized and self-motivated, with attention to detail
  • Eagerness to learn and apply new skills quickly
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace

Nice-to-haves

  • Sales, marketing, communications, or business coursework (preferred but not required)
