About The Position

We envision bringing a Family Engagement Specialist on board to the Family Portfolio. The Family Engagement Specialist will work in partnership with the site based Social Workers to develop and deliver evidence-based community engagement activities that support the growth and development of the community through workshops, classes, and groups. The Family Engagement Specialist will initially report to the Director of Supportive Housing Services. This position is on-site 4 days per week and remote 1 day per week to be negotiated with supervisor. As this position serves families the hours will be 10:30-7pm at least 2-days per week. There is also a possibility of periodic on-site weekend hours.

  • California Driver’s License
  • Some college
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience working in a community serving organization

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cultural Humility principles and practices
  • Demonstrated dependability and a reliable attendance record
  • Ability to set-up and clean-up engagement activities – moving tables, chairs, etc
  • Sophisticated computer skills with strong MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and social media skills
  • Experience operating standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopier, fax)
  • Regularly required to use hands to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, reach, bend, lift 15 pounds, kneel, stoop, and twist
  • Bilingual: Spanish/English verbal fluency and reading and writing

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Social Work or related field
  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care, Harm Reduction and Restorative Justice
  • Adult Protective Services and Child Protective Services training
  • De-escalation and crisis intervention skills
  • First Aid/CPR/AED/Narcan certified

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate a site-by-site community needs assessment.
  • Plan and implement year-round, in-house activities, presentations, and events
  • Coordinate with community organizations to offer educational workshops for families
  • Develop partnerships and manage MOUs with community organizations
  • Promote site-based activities and events through flyers, news letters, emails, text messages, and social media
  • Utilize translation software to provide tenants with language appropriate information and resources
  • Make appropriate referrals to the on-site Social Workers
  • Lead monthly planning meetings
  • Independently manage monthly engagement activity calendar
  • Order and maintain supplies for engagement activities
  • Independently manage monthly activity budgets
  • Maintain tenant engagement data to track goals and outcomes
  • Produce tenant engagement monthly reports for a variety of stakeholders
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of residents according to guidelines, and immediately report incidents of suspected abuse and neglect of persons or property to the supervisor
  • Travel to a variety of TNDC locations in San Francisco
  • Other related responsibilities as needed
