About The Position

The Family Support Worker (FSW) is a vital member of the Old Colony Y and the Family Resource Center team, serving as a frontline representative who embodies the organization’s mission of strengthening families and communities. The FSW is responsible for providing compassionate, respectful, and culturally sensitive support to families, ensuring they feel welcomed, safe, and empowered. This role combines direct family engagement with essential administrative duties, playing a central role in the day-to-day operations of the Family Resource Center. The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and promoting healthy family dynamics through education, resource navigation, and supportive services.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, or other languages commonly spoken in the community).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to families, including basic needs assistance, parenting education, and resource referrals.
  • Serve as a welcoming and professional point of contact for families, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Assist families in navigating systems and accessing appropriate services in the community.
  • Promote and model healthy family dynamics and positive behavior.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of services provided, including data entry.
  • Support administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and organizing outreach materials.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Uphold the values and mission of the Old Colony Y in all interactions and activities.
