About The Position

As a member of the Engagement and Advocacy Campaigns Team, the Federal Campaigns Associate supports and implements federal advocacy and political influence campaigns to advance The Nature Conservancy’s biodiversity, climate, and natural climate solutions priorities. The position serves as a key connector between the North American Policy and Government Relations (NAPGR) policy experts, state chapters, and volunteer leaders and stakeholders, helping translate federal policy priorities into effective advocacy strategies and engagement efforts. The Federal Campaigns Associate plays a critical role in coordinating campaign activities, developing advocacy tools and resources, engaging key supporters, and supporting cross‑organizational collaboration to influence legislative and administrative outcomes at the federal level. We're Looking for You: The Federal Campaigns Associate plans, coordinates, and implements advocacy strategies and campaign activities to engage key supporters and stakeholders in support of federal policy priorities. This includes supporting campaign development and execution, creating advocacy materials and communications, organizing trainings and events, and coordinating outreach efforts with internal and external partners. The role serves as a liaison among NAPGR policy experts, Engagement and Advocacy Campaigns colleagues, state chapters, and volunteer leaders, ensuring alignment, information flow, and effective execution of advocacy initiatives. The Associate contributes research, policy analysis, logistical support, and strategic input to help advance legislative and administrative objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Experience communicating with government, legislative staff, stakeholders, volunteer leaders, or program leadership.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring accountability.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including preparing materials, briefings, or presentations.
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams, organizations, or partner networks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with federal legislative or administrative policy processes.
  • Experience supporting advocacy or political influence campaigns at the federal, state, or local level.
  • Experience working with volunteer leaders, donors, trustees, or politically connected stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with U.S. social, economic, and political conditions related to conservation or environmental issues.
  • Experience working in a decentralized organization and coordinating across functions and geographies.
  • Strong organizational, relationship‑building, and facilitation skills.
  • Advanced degree and/or multilingual or multicultural experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with NAPGR policy experts and state chapters to support and implement federal biodiversity and climate advocacy campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain advocacy tools, outreach materials, talking points, and presentations to engage key supporters, volunteer leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Support campaign logistics, including meetings, briefings, trainings, and advocacy events (e.g., Capitol Hill engagements).
  • Serve as an informational and coordination point between federal policy staff, state chapters, and campaign stakeholders.
  • Facilitate meetings and communicate professionally with individuals from various backgrounds, cultures, and geographies.
  • Support campaign research, policy tracking, and analysis related to legislative and administrative priorities.
  • Coordinate with consultants, partners, and internal teams to support campaign execution and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable federal lobbying laws and regulations.
  • May provide coordination or task leadership for discrete projects, interns, volunteers, or temporary staff.
  • Operate independently within established program goals while contributing to team priorities and deadlines.
