The Opportunity: We are currently seeking a Federal Planner III to join our Federal Planning team in our Jacksonville office. This role is a mid-level planning position supporting planning and design initiatives for Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal clients. The Federal Planner III will contribute technical expertise, lead planning tasks, and coordinate project components while working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. You will be part of a team delivering installation master plans, area development plans, and strategic infrastructure planning efforts that support resilient, sustainable communities aligned with federal missions. What You’ll Do: As a Federal Planner III, you will support and lead components of federal planning projects, contributing technical analysis, design visualization, and coordination efforts while working closely with project managers and senior planners. You will take ownership of planning tasks and deliverables while continuing to develop leadership and project coordination skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, City & Regional Planning, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5–7 years of professional planning experience, preferably including federal, defense, or infrastructure-related projects.
  • Working knowledge of DoD planning standards, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and MILCON processes preferred.
  • AICP certification or progress toward certification preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship required due to federal contract requirements.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Strong graphic communication and visualization skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel for short- or medium-term project assignments (typically 1–3 weeks).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct land use, regulatory, environmental, and community planning analyses in support of federal and non-federal projects.
  • Prepare opportunity and constraint maps, site analysis reports, and planning narratives.
  • Lead development of planning alternatives and strategies for DoD installations and facility assets.
  • Coordinate planning tasks with multidisciplinary teams including architects, engineers, and GIS specialists.
  • Produce high-quality visual materials including master plan renderings, GIS-based maps, and presentation graphics.
  • Participate in client and stakeholder engagement activities, including charrettes, interviews, site visits, and workshops.
  • Support project managers in managing scope, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior planners or support staff as appropriate.
