About The Position

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) is seeking a part time or full time Building Decarbonization Fellow for the second half of 2026 (July – December 2026). The Building Decarbonization Fellow will support programs to decarbonize buildings in accordance with the Commonwealth’s Clean Energy and Climate Plan [https://www.mass.gov/info-details/massachusetts-clean-energy-and-climate-plan-for-2030]. This position will focus on fostering the decarbonization of energy use in buildings through MassCEC’s building decarbonization efforts [https://www.masscec.com/our-focus/high-performance-buildings]. These programs pilot building decarbonization solutions, provide grants, rebates, and technical assistance to help Massachusetts homeowners and businesses install clean heating and cooling systems, electrify building end uses, and improve thermal performance of buildings, all while expanding access of clean and affordable energy to low- and moderate-income residents. The role will include assisting MassCEC in developing and launching new building decarbonization initiatives. The fellowship program at MassCEC includes various educational and networking opportunities, including: In depth overview presentations from senior staff; Lunch-time tech talks and brown bag presentations; Guided tour of the Wind Technology Testing Center; and Other industry related events. This is an entry level position and interested applicants are encouraged to apply despite lack of background or experience in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team to review clean rebate application documents, payments/invoicing, responses from consultants to requests for proposals, and contract management
  • Provide timely responses to inquiries from homeowners, system installers, and others interested in the MassCEC programs
  • Analyze project data, identify industry trends, develop data visualizations (i.e., graphs, charts, tables), and draft memos and presentations to summarize findings
  • Assist program staff in researching, analyzing, and developing building decarbonization program strategies
  • Support outreach and education efforts such as marketing materials, events, and conferences.
