About The Position

As a Fiber Optic Technician, your primary focus will include: 🏗 New Construction: Build and expand our fiber network infrastructure. 🛠 Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues in existing fiber lines with precision. 🚨 Service Restoration: Respond to outages and restore fiber services seamlessly. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve fiber optic splicing, troubleshooting, and drop/cable construction using large and small equipment to deliver exceptional results.

Requirements

  • Completion of a two-year EDS, UST, or related program with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • OR, at least 3 years of consecutive aerial and/or underground utility construction experience.
  • Must possess a valid Class A CDL without an L restriction.
  • Certified climber or willing to become certified!
  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic theory, including fiber loss, connector types, and fiber types (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with both ribbon fiber and loose-tube fiber, including deribbonizing and ribbonizing (preferred).
  • Proficiency in fiber testing using tools like OTDR, OLTS, Power Meters, and VFL.
  • Ability to operate single and mass fusion splicing machines with accuracy.
  • Skill in reading splicing matrices and installing/maintaining aerial and underground splice closures.
  • Ability to differentiate fiber sizes and color codes quickly and accurately in diverse environments (FTTH, underground, aerial).
