Reimagine What’s Possible Air Products has an immediate opening for a Field Service Technician for the Northern California and Nevada region. This position also involves occasional travel to Utah Region for peak workload and vacation relief support. An entrepreneurial opportunity for a career-minded person to work out of your home and manage the service to customer installations in a set territory. An independent work environment, coupled with an expansive coverage area offers a unique and exciting work environment. This position required after-hours availability with response to customer service situations 24/7 as required. Occasional short-term travel may be required. Weekend work is rare but is on an as-needed basis. In our one region one team approach, there may also be requirement for occasional support in areas outside your normal and primary coverage territory. Air Products Field Service Technicians are provided with a company truck and tools to enable servicing cryogenic and bulk gaseous systems at our customer sites. This includes pressure vessels, vaporizers, flow, level and pressure control instrumentation, pumps, compressors, Hydrogen Fueling systems, and Ultra High Purity purification skids. You will be responsible for providing the necessary technical and hands-on support for installation of new systems, and maintenance of existing systems. The successful candidate for this role must be safety-focused, self-motivated, able to work independently, and a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. Requirements

  • Demonstrate Safety proficiency and willingness to learn and grow with emerging technologies.
  • Possess and demonstrate independence and strong internal and external customer interface skills and aptitude.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, bill of materials, flow sheets, equipment layout, piping drawings, and electrical controls schematics.
  • Practice accurate cost reporting for both materials and labor expenditures.
  • Willingness and ability to embrace understanding of the properties, behavior, and hazards of the products he/she is likely to encounter, as well as their associated equipment, is a must.
  • Maintain parts and tool inventories to ensure proficient and successful task completions in a timely fashion.
  • Demonstrate and practice safe work practices and adherence to procedures.
  • High School diploma or equivalency is required with Technical or Military experience preferred.
  • 5 plus years’ maintenance / installation experience is required.
  • Willingness to travel with some overnight stays.
  • Must be proficient in the safe use of hand and hand powers tools, commonly used with installation and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, solve, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment deficiencies.
  • Service truck road test is required along with a clear MVR and good driving record.
  • Digital literacy is required to perform projects and other day-to-day duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in electrical, instrumentation, and PLC maintenance and troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cryogenic and gaseous delivery systems is a plus.
  • Brazing experience is also a plus.
  • Demonstrate quality brazing techniques and successfully obtaining certification are mandatory.
  • Exposure to maintaining pneumatic systems, pumps, pressure vessels, reciprocating and centrifugal compressors is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, maintain, and remove Air Products cryogenic, high pressure, generated gas, and associated equipment at customer sites all over the region, generally within a two-hour radius of home.
  • Occasionally supervise subcontractors and crane activity.
