About The Position

Schmidt Construction, part of the Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Operations Manager to work at our Delta location in Colorado Springs, CO. The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and performance of field construction operations. This role oversees multiple projects and crews, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards, schedules, and financial goals. Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience and s trong understanding of paving and heavy civil construction operations
  • Strong understanding of paving and heavy civil construction operations
  • Proven leadership experience managing multiple crews and field leaders
  • Strong knowledge of jobsite safety practices and regulatory expectations
  • Ability to plan and coordinate manpower, equipment, and production across projects
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Financial awareness related to productivity and operational efficiency
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and accountable
  • High School degree and college education and/or sufficient work experience in similar work environment

Responsibilities

  • Field Leadership Lead and support Superintendents and Foremen across multiple projects
  • Set expectations for safety, production, quality, and professionalism
  • Ensure consistent planning, execution, and documentation in the field
  • Safety & Compliance Promote a strong safety culture and enforce company policies
  • Support jobsite safety programs and review incidents and corrective actions
  • Hold teams accountable for safe work practices
  • Operations & Production Coordinate manpower, equipment, and resources across projects
  • Partner with field leaders to develop schedules and resolve production issues
  • Optimize crew and equipment efficiency
  • Cross-Team Coordination Work closely with asphalt plants, aggregates, trucking, and project teams
  • Align production, delivery, and field needs through proactive planning
  • Communicate workload changes and prevent operational disruptions
  • Quality & Performance Ensure work meets plans, specs, and company standards
  • Address performance and quality issues in the field
  • Drive continuous improvement in execution and productivity
  • Leadership & Development Coach, mentor, and develop field leaders
  • Support hiring, training, and performance management
  • Foster accountability, teamwork, and growth
