About The Position

Hy-Tech is adding a Field Safety Coordinator to our growing team. This role involves working with the Foreman or Project Manager to oversee compliance with safety systems and environmental regulations while providing support, guidance, and professional representation. We are looking to add an ambitious, well-rounded individual to carry out the following key responsibilities:

Requirements

  • Must be a resident of the USA and legally authorized to work in the country.
  • 2+ years of experience in a safety focused role.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental regulations, codes, and laws that pertain to the Diamond Drilling Industry in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ability to thrive in a challenging and fast-paced environment, juggling multiple priorities.
  • Maintain high-quality standards and be a positive ambassador for Hy-Tech.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, developing strong relationships.
  • Perceive the bigger picture, tailoring your actions to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence and provide a current drivers abstract annually.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or recognized designation is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive trip plan for site visits, outlining travel logistics, visit purpose, and achievable goals during the site visit. Document trip outcomes in a report that is circulated to management.
  • Support site Foremen in maintaining compliance with relevant standards. Encourage proactive measures to meet safety goals.
  • Support site safety meetings.
  • Assist with the completion and review of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) submissions. Provide training to employees and supervisors to ensure this tool is being used correctly.
  • Monitor trends, legislative changes and internal changes (equipment and procedures) to anticipate safety needs.
  • Review Hazard ID submissions, complete investigation and corrective actions.
  • Complete incident investigations for incidents, near misses, and hazard identifications. Recommend corrective actions that address the root cause and mitigate future occurrences.
  • Assist with the ERP assessments by developing processes, procedures, and training materials. Provide necessary training to employees to develop a systematic response to a crisis and test annually.
  • Check Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) on site for accuracy, update as required and repost.
  • Review safety meeting submissions from operations and the shop. Address deficiencies and bring forward opportunities for improvement to the H&S Manager.
  • Support new worker orientations and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Provide safety training (i.e. Propane, Defensive Driving, Rod Handler, LOTO, etc.) on site as required.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure that the Foreman and drill crews are following all the company protocols and operating as efficiently and safely as possible.
