About The Position

These are field-based positions in remote areas of South Dakota and Montana part of the preliminary work for a significant oil and gas project. This portion of the project is expected to last 2-3 years The Field Safety Coordinator works for GC to monitor subcontractor work for conformance to Client and GC HSE standards. The Field Safety Coordinator will report findings to project site management (direct report) and corporate safety director (dotted line report).

Requirements

  • Three to five years of safety technician/coordinator experience in construction with OSHA 510 or equivalent formal safety related training
  • Five to seven years of construction experience OSHA 510 or equivalent formal safety related training
  • A degree in Occupational Safety and one year of construction safety experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Ability to communicate effectively; written and orally in English
  • Self-motivated, adaptable
  • Excellent customer/client service skills;
  • Good communication skills with individuals, groups, in presentations, via email and document writing;
  • Able to meet deadlines, work independently without direct supervision as an individual as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality;
  • Intermediate computer proficiency (i.e. Microsoft Office, Outlook, internet searches, etc.)
  • Well organized, attentive to detail, flexible, adaptable, efficient, able to prioritize multiple taskings;
  • Effectively work with others to build consensus.
  • Understanding of construction processes.

  • Current First Aid/CPR/ AED card a plus

Responsibilities

  • Complete document reviews, audit documentation, and perform document management;
  • Conduct project safety orientations;
  • Observe and monitor worksite employees’ safety practices without directing means or methods;
  • Conduct safety inspections/audits and documents findings;
  • Analyze and recommend improvements for safe work practices, policies and training programs.
  • Act as the TL Competent Person for excavation, fall protection, confined spaces, LOTO, ladder inspections, scaffolds, etc.
  • Complete all other tasks and activities within the realm of the HSE practice within the scope of the project and site work.
