About The Position

This role leads environmental field operations. Responsibilities include supervising field personnel, providing technical training, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The role supports project planning, resource deployment, cost estimating, and documentation, while maintaining productivity and quality across all field activities. This position plays a critical role in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality environmental services to clients and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related science field
  • 5+ years of field experience in environmental work. Some management and training, or construction experience is preferred.
  • Strong computer and verbal/written communication skills are a must
  • 40-hour Hazardous Waste Site Operation (HAZWOPER)
  • First Aid (FA)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • RCRA Certification
  • USDOT HAZMAT Certification
  • All positions require the completion of a successful background check, motor vehicle review, and pre-employment drug screen.
  • This position requires the use of a personal or company vehicle (light duty pickup trucks or cargo vans) on company business. Driving positions require a current, valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable driving record. Must be physically capable of operating vehicles safely. 
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA HAZWOPER standards, including completion of annual medical evaluations to ensure fitness for duty in hazardous environments.
  • Employees operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) are subject to regular, random drug testing in compliance with DOT requirements. Certain projects may require participation in random drug screening programs.
  • Employees must maintain an active cell phone to ensure availability for work-related coordination.

  • Some positions require Asbestos Building Inspector, Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, etc. Other training and certifications as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned staff, conduct performance reviews, and apply retention best practices.
  • Understand and perform field tasks associated with all Service Areas, such as Closure, Transaction, Building Sciences, and Remedial Construction.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced field programs and groundwater sampling, monitoring well installations, vapor intrusion investigations, and environmental site assessments
  • Proficient in performing specialized tasks including stormwater sampling, industrial hygiene inspections/sampling, remedial construction labor and oversight, and renewable energy reconnaissance
  • Ensure accurate field documentation, verify utility locates, inspect equipment, and coordinate subcontractor activities to meet project objectives and regulatory standards.
  • Train, mentor, and oversee field personnel in tasks associated with the project's scope of work and all aspects of job site safety
  • Provide on-the-job training and develop employees in field procedures, billing time, field documentation (photos, notes, field forms, etc.), and cross training
  • Assist in the onboarding of new staff
  • Assist Field Operations Manager with scheduling and deploying resources
  • Assist with cost estimating, proposal preparation, site walks, and project scoping, as requested.
  • Review and enforce Health and Safety Plans (HASPs), at work sites
  • Maintain inventory of field supplies
  • Evaluate, select, schedule, and manage subcontractors
  • Assist in maintaining productivity of group to consistently meet and exceed productivity goals
  • Plan for non-billable work tasks when no billable work is available
  • Support, implement, and enforce company policies and procedures
  • Review and approve timesheets and expense reports
  • Manage all projects safely 
  • Assist with preparation of load lists, field instructions, daily reports, and production reports
  • Monitor quality and consistency of field work, including site inspections, equipment, fleet size and care, job site H&S, etc.
  • Communicate changes in scope to internal clients, as necessary
