This paid internship will provide ample opportunity to participate as a valuable member of our Survey team by working on meaningful projects, while being supported and mentored by our experienced Survey staff. This position is ideal for students interested in hands-on experience in land surveying fieldwork where you will learn to operate surveying equipment, learn field surveying techniques, and provide support to surveying technicians and survey crew chiefs.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in surveying, civil engineering, environmental engineering, geography, or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with diverse groups, including engineers, surveyors, and community members.
  • Familiarity with data collection methods and tools (training will be provided).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and basic data management tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in remote or outdoor settings.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to different field locations.
  • Willingness to work hard and learn from experienced technicians.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of GIS and mapping tools (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Support field services by stocking materials and equipment into surveying vehicles.
  • Review site conditions and support the crew chief in carrying supplies and equipment.
  • Place surveying stakes and lath as directed by the crew chief in support of the construction of proposed improvements.
  • Learn to operate surveying equipment and learn procedures to collect data for the benefit of design services.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to facilitate smooth surveying operations.
  • Follow safety protocols and ethical guidelines throughout fieldwork activities.
