About The Position

The Finance Director serves as the backbone of the Chase Oaks finance team, providing leadership and stewardship over the church’s financial operations with integrity and accuracy, and ensuring compliance with all legal and accounting standards.

Requirements

  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills and the ability to interface with members of the Chase Oaks body, Chase Oaks staff, with a mindfulness that the financial role is a support to those in ministry
  • Work diplomatically in representing the church to outside organizations and institutions
  • Ability to provide creative solutions for ever-changing ministry needs
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality on all organizational and donor-related matters
  • Minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience, preferably in General Accounting, Revenue Accounting, Tax, and Audit, ideally with a focus on not-for-profit accounting
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Accounting degree required
  • Manage team of 3 financial staff responsible for general accounting, payroll processing, accounts payable, contribution processing and revenue accounting
  • Ability to speak effectively and understandably on the phone.
  • The ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries regarding Chase Oaks ministries is also required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Outlook calendaring, and email
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel
  • Comfortable with databases and accounting systems
  • Data entry skill & experience
  • Lifting 5-10 pounds is an occasional but essential requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification preferred
  • Paycom experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close process (reviewing reconciliations, JE preparation, restricted-fund roll-forwards) targeting 7 business days
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger in Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT (projects, fixed assets, grant/endowment records)
  • Prepare audit schedules, Form 990 support, and all compliance filings
  • Supervise and develop AP, AR/Donor Records, and Payroll staff
  • Serve as the go-to Blackbaud FE NXT expert and primary liaison with auditors and Blackbaud support
  • Implement and enforce internal controls across campuses
  • Partner with the Executive Director on technical aspects of budgeting, forecasting, and systems projects
  • Serve as primary advisor to the Executive Director and Financial Advisory Team
  • Establish and maintain relations with banks and other financial institutions
  • Provide budgeting process and reports throughout year to ministry leaders
