SCOPE OF ROLE: The Finance & Accounting Intern will support key finance & accounting activities by preparing and analyzing financial results, ensuring a compliant control environment, and pursuing business improvements. This role is located at our Gast Manufacturing, Inc. headquarters in Benton Harbor, MI.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • Have a general knowledge of accounting & financial principles and the ability to apply classroom themes or past experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new skills quickly
  • Self-starter, strong personal motivation, willing to take initiative.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a team environment with people outside your department.
  • Desire to think critically and problem solve.
  • Excellent organizational/time management skills, and strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office,, strong proficiency in MS Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Power BI and JD Edwards or similar ERP, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with members of the Finance & Accounting teams to assist with month-end financial reporting, ensuring accuracy of results and analysis.
  • Perform daily & weekly reporting to drive business outcomes.
  • Reconciles accounts to determine accuracy of account balances and investigates and resolves any discrepancies.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries for booking into the general ledger.
  • Work cross functionally to complete ad hoc projects and process improvements, including partial automation of standard costing procedures.
  • Perform and assist with annual SOX testing.
