About The Position

This position is part of the GE Vernova Wind Controllership leadership team reporting directly to the Executive Global Business Controller. It has senior functional leadership responsibility for the integration and ongoing management of accounting and controllership activities within the segment. Job Description Designing and directing the strategy and operating model for controllership activities in the Wind segment while ensuring a smooth transition of activities, performing due diligence and gap analysis to solve for activities remaining in the business finance teams, maintain a strong project management mindset and be able to report out updates and key performance indicators on a frequent basis, and minimize risks generated because of the transition of activities into the Controllership organization. This individual will have broad experience across many of the Controllership processes in order to best understand how all of the accounting activities are performed and have the ability to navigate cross-functionally within the finance teams to understand how the different parts of the finance organization interact. Although this role will not lead a team of individuals initially, it provides managerial direction over a critical function, including oversight of external providers and matrixed and project‑based staff. This person must have experience leading a team as it is critical to the successful transition of activities, they must have strong leadership and communication skills, and work under time constraints. This senior individual will have an in depth understanding of the business or function and how the role of controllership integrates with others within their discipline

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from a nationally accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial positions, with a high controllership, process, and operational partnership-oriented mindset
  • Experience working in other areas of finance outside of the Controllership function to effectively integrate and align multiple finance disciplines
  • Located in Schenectady, NY

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of the future‑state controllership operating model for the Wind Segment, in partnership with the Wind finance leadership team. Must be able to navigate through different personalities and opinions to influence an outcome that can be supported across the extended finance team.
  • Organize and facilitate all due diligence as it relates to the Controllership transformation goals and develop KPIs, governance routines and reporting mechanisms to monitor and report progress to senior leadership on a frequent basis.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams (including FP&A, business finance, and other finance sub‑functions) in the process of reporting actuals as some of that responsibility transitions into the Controllership organization from the business finance teams.
  • Manage and oversee all 3rd party providers within the Controllership organization to drive process improvements, enhanced quality, and cost savings.
  • Work with the Corporate Controllership team to come to a common view on segment vs. enterprise led Controllership activities and develop transition plans for those activities that require a change from the current state.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement and engage lean team where applicable. This includes things such as account reconciliation automation, consolidation of reports to support audits more efficiently, and the use of AI to automate and improve reporting capabilities.
  • Assist in complex operational issues, advise, and resolve while engaging and communicating with multiple stakeholders as applicable.
  • Support and guide the broader controllership team on ad-hoc priorities and strategic initiatives.
