A Day in the Life Accounts receivable management: Maintain and monitor miscellaneous accounts receivable, including invoicing, payments, adjustments, aging reports, and general ledger accuracy. Ensure proper sales tax application and follow up on discrepancies or collections. Utility billing and loan support: Review utility billing journal entries, manage business finance and Energy Services loans, communicate payment options and amortization schedules, process EFT payment, and maintain accurate loan records. Reconciliations and reporting: Prepare monthly reconciliations of accounts receivable and loan balances to the general ledger. Report aging and open balances to leadership and assist with audit documentation. Collaboration and compliance: Work with other departments across East Central Energy to gather billing information, apply payments correctly, and ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and data security requirements. Process improvement: Identify opportunities to improve workflows, accuracy, and efficiency within accounts receivable and loan processes.

Requirements

  • A two-year degree in accounting or related field, plus a minimum of two years of related work experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organized skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
  • Ability to analyze billing, reconciliation, and account discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of Rural Utilities Service accounting principles, sales tax regulations, PCI compliance, red flag rules, and information security.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, communicate clearly, and maintain confidentiality with professionalism and integrity.
