About The Position

Northeastern Junior College is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Financial Aid Advisor. The Financial Aid Advisor provides direct assistance to the Director of Financial aid with the management of student financial aid programs according to federal, state and institutional guidelines, policies and regulations. The Financial Aid Advisor assists in the review of financial aid applications and packaging of awards for eligible students and meets directly with students and parents to help them navigate financial aid options. Additional essential functions include: outreach, advising and counseling activities; administer policies to support the recruitment and retention of qualified students; processing and administering all types of aid including alternative student/parent loans and coordinating veteran's benefits for qualifying students. Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in an integrated system
  • Customer service, technical communication and analytical skills required
  • Must possess responsible office experience, flexibility, and organizational skills, be detailed, and thorough.
  • Must be willing to travel when necessary

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in managing and administering student financial aid programs according to federal, state and institutional guidelines, policies and regulations
  • Assist the Director in analyzing procedures, organization, data and records maintenance to monitor all student aid records and awarding.
  • Works closely with the CCCS Financial Aid team on packaging, verifications, professional judgments, dependency overrides, FAFSA/CASFA errors, and overall maintenance on student accounts.
  • Disseminate and clarify information to current and prospective students and their families concerning all available financial aid programs, application processes, eligibility, scholarship applications and Provide financial aid counseling to students and families.
  • Assist with awarding, administering, and reconciling of student financial assistance programs including Title IV federal aid, institutional grants and scholarships, state aid and programs, letter of intent, private scholarships, and alternative student/parent loans.
  • Works closely with Grant and Scholarship Manager, Controller, CCCS Financial Aid team, CDHE, and Sallie Mae to ensure proper administration and reconciliation of Awards.
  • Assist with presentations and informational workshops on financial aid at high schools, outreach sights and on campus.
  • Collect, analyze, and review financial aid applications and documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in the coordination of Veteran's Administration programs; becoming a School Certifying Official is a requirement
  • Coordinates and administers the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) process and is a member of the SAP Committee for reviewing and determining outcomes of student issued appeals.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and conferences to maintain and advance professional development and attend training opportunities.
  • Keep current on federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain the Financial Aid website with current and up-to-date information
  • Assist the Director of Financial Aid with any additional duties as needed or assigned.
