About The Position

This position provides support for the analytical, accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting activities within the Long School of Medicine (LSOM) Dean’s Office. Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of analytical, reporting and administrative duties in support of assigned departments to include preparing a variety of financial and statistical reports; performing advanced accounting functions; managing multiple fund sources in LSOM; and carrying out accounting projects complex in nature requiring the use of initiative and independent judgement; ability to work independently and contribute to a team environment.

Requirements

  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Knowledge of common business and cost drivers, and financial statement analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate key information pertaining to budgets and forecasts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills with strong working knowledge of Excel.
  • Skilled in prioritizing, planning and organizing assignments; working effectively under tight schedules, and completing tasks in a timely manner.
  • Detail-oriented with organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages financial reporting, data analysis, data management, and forecasting of current/future financial performance.
  • Collects, compiles, verifies, and analyzes financial information and economic factors to ensure leadership has accurate and timely information for making strategic operational decisions.
  • Defines and conducts the statistical analysis for the development of new programs, meets with members of leadership to present and discuss financial data, and works with them to revise and update the financial model.
  • Manages budget preparation for assigned area of responsibility; provides support to budget managers and departmental administrators; compiles/reviews annual budget packets/proposals for validity against past financial metrics and performances.
  • Provides accurate and timely reporting of financial and operational statistical data to external organizations as necessary.
  • Maintains financial and productivity models and reports that contribute to the financial planning efforts.
  • Completes special projects and ad-hoc reporting requests related to finance and budgeting activities as required.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
