About The Position

The Financial Analyst I solves finance solutions which ensure timely and accurate preparation and record keeping of debt, lease, and credit facility activities for Alaska Air, Horizon Air and Hawaiian Airlines. As an individual contributor, this role focuses on the day-to-day oversight of payments, reporting, and accounting related to the company’s debt and lease portfolios, as well as supporting other technical analyses across a wide variety of finance, fleet, and treasury-related subjects and projects. The Financial Analyst II is responsible for developing solutions to treasury and finance processes at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role makes recommendations to improve the day-to-day oversight of the company’s debt and lease portfolios, supports ongoing liquidity and balance sheet metric forecasting, and provides analytical support of a wide variety of critical finance, fleet, and treasury-related subject and projects. This role requires an inquisitive self-starter with a strong financial background, attention to detail, and ability to build strong cross-divisional internal relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, mathematics, or accounting, or related area, or two years of experience in analytics and/or business intelligence in Treasury, Finance, or related area, in lieu of this degree.
  • Knowledge of accounting, finance, and investing fundamentals.
  • This role requires an inquisitive self-starter with a strong financial background, attention to detail, and ability to build strong cross-divisional internal relationships.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, particularly related to financial modeling.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and balance priorities.
  • Ability to understand and breakdown complex ideas to support decision making.
  • Ability to work in both a team environment and independently with limited supervision.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • 2 years of experience working with analytics and/or business intelligence in Treasury, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, mathematics, or accounting, or related area, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

Responsibilities

  • Administer portfolio of aircraft debt, operating leases, and credit facilities: Maintain accurate records and forecasts of financial obligations Process payments in accordance with established deadlines Validate wire activity per established fraud control processes Ensure accurate and timely completion of all financial reporting / compliance obligations Validate and process daily shareholder return activities in accordance with established strategy. Monitor airline industry credit conditions, including thorough knowledge of rating agency assessments/frameworks, and credit events/trends. Maintain financial reporting and audit documentation to ensure compliance with all internal audit and SOX requirements. Works with team to accurately forecast, analyze, and/or consolidate information related to cash flow obligations, balance sheet metrics, and non-operating income / expense. Prepare monthly reports for accounting and financial reporting to support financial closing process and serves as liaison with internal and external audit teams for all fleet/finance activities. Provide input into the continuous enhancement of reports and processes to improve internal controls, gain efficiency, and reduce costs. Perform ad-hoc analyses and duties as assigned.
  • Take initiative to develop solutions for the portfolio of aircraft debt, operating leases, and credit facilities. Manage the execution of validations and processes for the daily shareholder return activities in accordance with established strategy. Take initiative to develop solutions to treasury and finance processes and problems. Administer finance professional concepts and methodologies to make recommendations related to internal and external financing/fleet transactions and audit requests. Train the team in monitoring the airline’s industry credit condition, including thorough knowledge of rating agency assessments/frameworks, and credit events/trends. Develop solutions to monitor and update financial reporting and audit documentation to ensure compliance with all internal audit and SOX requirements. With limited direction from manager, work independently to accurately forecast, analyze, and/or consolidate information related to cash flow obligations, balance sheet metrics, and non-operating income / expense. Create and influences cross functionally on monthly reports for accounting and financial reporting to support financial closing process and serves as a liaison with internal and external audit teams for all fleet/finance activities. Makes recommendations and implement the continuous enhancement of reports and processes to improve internal controls, gain efficiency, and reduce costs.
