About The Position

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Direct the administration of all DHS financial and fraud/integrity programs. Provide leadership, supervision, performance monitoring, and control of all assigned staff. WORK PERFORMED/JOB FUNCTIONS: Direct activities of financial and program integrity units to ensure a smooth flow of work through the Unit and quality service to clients for all public assistance programs, including Childcare Assistance. Evaluate individual performances to improve efficiency and ensure quality of work. Assure that staff are properly utilized, and training needs are identified. Recommend hiring additional or replacement staff. Participate with organizations and state agency personnel to assist in identifying program impact and future needs. Attend supervisory meetings and training sessions to maintain level of expertise in job classification. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state structures, rules laws, and policies governing income maintenance programs, and a broad understanding of the objectives of the state human service program, community resources and functions of human services programs and related services, multiple complex computer systems that financial workers must access, other sources of financial support, including Social Security, reemployment insurance, veterans benefits, worker's compensation, and disability insurance/pension programs.
  • Ability to deal effectively with clients or members of the public who are under stress or distraught, supervise and direct the work of others, provide consultation and direction to income maintenance unit staff, interpret legal documents, complex rules, manual materials, and bulletins to staff.
  • Three years of experience as a Financial Worker in a human service agency; or two years of experience as a Financial Worker in a human service agency and completion of two years of study at an accredited two or four-year college in behavioral sciences, business or closely related subjects; or eighteen months experience as a Financial Worker in a human service agency and completion of a bachelor’s degree at an accredited two or four-year college or university with a major in behavioral sciences, business or closely related subjects.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Sedentary to light physical activities requiring stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, and close vision.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 35 pounds.
